When I knew I was going on Sky Portrait Artist of the Year I pooed myself a little and realized I’d never tried painting fast before or under any sort of major time constraints.
So I thought, let’s go for acrylic because it dries almost before the brush hits the canvas, so any mistakes can be corrected quickly. I decided to see what I could do within an hour and this is what I came up with.
When I was there, I made a quick switch to oils for reasons I can’t explain. Here’s my final portrait of Emeli Sande, which took 4 hours and a lot of scraping off.
