I started this painting based on a few dodgy sketches and a couple of photos I took at the top of Low Fell.
I think when I started I must have bought a load of Payne’s Grey that I needed to get rid of, because look what I did. The sky looks as though I’ve actually left the painting out in the rain.
So I decided to get a bit more creative with the sky, maybe a bit of sun showing through and a bit of blue to give some hope that the weather’s clearing. It didn’t, I got soaked coming down off that hill.
